Gynecology and obstetrics

Ginecology and obstetrics is a branch of medicine dealing with diseases of the female reproductive system. Doctors of this specialization also take care of expectant mothers, during labor (childbirth) and puerperium (childbed).

The most common problems with which gynecologists deal are: menstrual disorders, contraception, infertility, vaginal inflammation and cancer of the reproductive organ.

Gynecologists order and run specialised tests such as: gynecological ultrasound, cardiotocography (CTG), hormonal tests, vaginal swab for microbiological examination.
